While it always helps to have good equipment, as I said in one of my earlier posts at the end of the day its the person behind the camera that matters. Iv noticed on some forums an obsession with equipment, even more so in this digital age. Its as if people are anxiously waiting for the next bit of kit to come out, as if its going to make them a better photographer? I found this excellent article which illustrates the point in a more substantive way on Ken Rockwells site, check it out Here.

It sometimes seems to me that this generation of camera users are not so much photographers as technophiles obsessed with the tech rather than the art. Pity.
But it does mean that second hand equipment is getting cheaper, especially good film kit, so maybe it's a good thing after all!

Very true Lanthus, it is a pity. Not just film kit, because people insist on having the latest digital gear, camera prices are droping like the stock market. I dont read a lot of forums now, they are so boring. I was reading one on photo.net, people were discusing articulated LCD screens? All my cameras have articulated viewfinders, its amazing I just pick up the camera and point it anywhere I want!!
